SLA Mobile Connects Infobip to Zain’s Subscribers to allow the use of Direct Operator Billing with their Global Merchants
2 September 2014
SLA Mobile, a leading worldwide solutions vendor focused on bringing new revenue streams to mobile operators, has partnered with Infobip, a global mobile messaging and payments provider to bring Direct Operator Billing (DOB) to Zain subscribers for their list of digital and virtual goods merchants. SLA Mobile provides managed service solutions to mobile operators, helping them monetise network and data assets, and Zain Group has recently introduced DOB capabilities thanks to SLA Mobile.
Infobip will now connect Zain users with its worldwide base of digital and virtual goods merchants through DOB. Also known as carrier billing, DOB allows purchases of digital and virtual goods to be charged directly to the mobile bill of the user, without the need for a credit card or a bank account. This hassle-free and convenient payment method is seeing rapid adoption among smart phone users, as it offers a better user experience for consumers of mobile apps, games and other content.
“Smart phone penetration is growing rapidly and Zain is one of the 4G pioneers in the MENA region, so it is no surprise that they are looking for new ways to monetise their smart phone user base. We’re excited about this opportunity to work with SLA Mobile and Zain and bring more exposure to Direct Operator Billing in the Middle East.”
Said Paolo Rizzardini, VP of Mobile Payments at Infobip.
“We are happy to partner with Infobip and connect with their global base of digital content merchants. Introducing DOB to these merchants will benefit Zain’s users, giving them more freedom in choosing the content they want, and how they want to pay for it.”
Said Amelia Power, Head of Sales and Marketing at SLA Mobile.
